Lord Noel Says Fifty Is The New Twentyfive

What ho! Pepys...

Most of us reckon that we had the time of our lives in our teens and twenties.

After all, those years of freedom with few responsibilities and no worries are usually a whirl of parties, holidays and laughs.

But new research commissioned by Benenden Healthcare shows that we've got it all wrong – the typical 50-year-old is having more fun, is happier and more sociable than most people half their age.

A survey of 4,000 people aged 18-75 showed that 'nifty fifties' enjoy more nights out, travel further afield and catch up with friends more frequently than twenty-somethings.

Each week, a typical 50-year-old goes out twice and sees four friends. They also enjoy three weekends away during the year.

Twenty-somethings only manage one evening out a week, catch up with three friends and take two short breaks.

Half of the over-50s said their focus was on enjoying life to the full, compared with a third of those in their 20s.

A spokesman for Benenden Healthcare said: "Perhaps it's because people's priorities change over the years – with those who are older making time to do what they want, reflect on what they have or haven't done and play 'catch-up.'

"Twenty-somethings get caught in the stresses and demands of a job but in doing so let other parts of their life slip. The over-50s are setting the pace well ahead of their younger counterparts. Being 50 is definitely the new 25."

Lord Noel Attends A Masked Ball

Whatto! Revellers.....

We were recently invited to the Masked Birthday Ball of Dame Willamina Futtox......
.....and it was wonderful to see everyone looking so resplendent....

 People of all ages attended.....
....and the beauty of the mask......
...is that it allows one to hide one's natural feelings.....
...one can appear relaxed and happy....
....when one may be feeling otherwise.

The only area I can think of where masks are used extensively....
...is Wrestling...
...or ice hockey....
....or perhaps brothels....?

 But this was no brothel!...
...this was an unusual birthday celebration....
...and Dame Willamina was determined to enjoy herself to the full with all her friends and family in attendance.......

 More guests arrived...
...in a variety of disguises...
...all of which I found totally intriguing.
I always find it interesting to see how people chose to present themselves in public....

Some people are slightly less inhibited....
....and make a bold statement with their appearance....
....even when they aren't attending parties!
This lady managed quite admirably without the need for a mask at all....

Lady J and myself were there of course.....
....dressed in our full 'Masked Ball' regalia.....

....and I was also requested to entertain the gathering throng.....
....with a few of my popular hits.....
....from The Phantom of the Opera.....

The Birthday girl herself enjoyed an unusual Birthday Cake.....
....which was something she'd personally chosen for herself....
....her favourite.....
....Meat Pie!

...and it was absolutely delicious!

Lord Noel Celebrates Super Women!

What ho! Ladies................
I was pleasantly surprised to discover how many good female super heroines there are
in the wonderful world of comics!

Those of you with an insightfulness in that area of expertise......... will probably be able to name most of the lovely ladies on display here.....

And it reminded me that I spent the other evening inventing super heros with the help of some other lovely people who came over to enjoy our company at Virtual Manor.......

With their help and encouragement I was able to create FIVE!...... It may have been more but that's all I could remember by the end of the evening!............. And I think 5 super heroes is quite enough for one night!............

I shall be contacting Marvel Comics as soon as I've 'fleshed them up' a bit............. to see if they are interested.........

They aren't like your 'regular' Super Heroes.............Although all the Heros I created had a 'special power' of some sort that they could utilise in an emergency................

.....but not necessarily one that they'd chose to brag about............... I'm sorry I can't tell you more..........but I'd have to kill you..........and you must understand that I like to tantalise and torment you as much as possible..........(that's one of my special powers!).......

And do you know?................ that by the end of the evenings frivolities......... which incidently only took place after some deep and taxing discussion......

......all the people round our generous banqueting table....... seemed like Wonderful Super Heroes to me...........

and one of them in particular................ has TODAY reached the grand old age of 30!

.......And she just happens to be my lovely lovely daughter!.........
Yes....I know what you're thinking......."Lord Noel doesn't look old enough to have a 30 year old daughter!"..............Well that's very sweet of you!.......But it's absolutely TRUE!!
(By the way......have you heard of a company called 'Specsavers?)
And this lovely lady is someone I feel very proud of today.............. she has blossomed into a wonderful and beautiful woman....................... who can rightly be described now........
........ as A SUPER WOMAN!

And........ in her name she carries a secret weapon of Love with her wherever she goes...............
Happy Birthday Caragh!
Best Wishes and lots and lots of love............... Dad & Mum xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(That's Lord Noel & Lady Jacqueline to the rest of you!)
