I asked my notoriously unromantic friend Tony, whether he had bought anything for his wife on Valentine's Day.
He replied 'Yes, I bought her a belt and a bag.'
'Wow! Tony!' I exclaimed in genuine surprise 'That was very thoughtful of you.....
.....I'm sure she appreciated those.'
Tony smiled and said, 'I certainly hope so.......
.....and hopefully the vacuum cleaner will also work better now.'
