Lord Noel on 'Women Knowing Their Place'

Whatto! Peeps...

Some time ago (several years before the Afghan conflict) I read an article in the Times newspaper on gender roles in Kabul, Afghanistan.  In it they mentioned that women customarily walked five paces behind their husbands as a mark of respect and subservience..
In a more recent article, the same reporter returned to Kabul and observed that women still walk behind their husbands, despite the overthrow of the oppressive
Taliban regime...
...for some reason the women seem happy to maintain this old custom.
When the reporter approached one of the Afghan women and asked, 'Why do you now seem happy with an old custom that you once tried so desperately to change?'
The woman looked them straight in the eyes, and without hesitation said...

... “Land mines.”

BEHIND EVERY MAN, THERE'S A SMARTER WOMAN

Tallyho!
Best Wishes - Lord Noel
