Lord Noel Talks Snakes

What ho!! Once more!!................

You may remember that I recently caught a 'snake' when I went fishing from a local Staithe............

Well when I went out in my Kayak the other day I saw another one!.........

This time going along on top of the water......................

From the distinctive markings I was later able to identify it as........

......a Grass snake!!

Beautiful creatures............

The markings behind the head were the giveaway...................

When it's swimming you can only see the head so it looks like some sort of water vole..........

......making it's way across the river.............

That got me thinking about serpents in general..........

......and what a bad presssssssss they've had !!! HAR!!

The Myths of Sea Serpents have no doubt grown around the mysteries that surround the sea....

where whole vessels have disappeared..............

along with their crews...................

The Oceans of the World still being one of he great Unexplored areas of this wonderful planet of ours.............

Which is odd in a way................

because the snake is primarily associated with the element of 'Earth'..............

Here's the 'Serpent' horn - that wonderfully combines the sinuous contours of the snake into a remarkable instrument...........
The snake symbolises so much more too...........

...........as it coils it's way slowly through the undergrowth............

........and into our baths..............
(it is SO important to keep your snake clean).......
The coiling spiral also links now with the mysterious DNA - the secret of life itself!

But the link with nastiness.............

.......is NEVER very far away...............

I happen to be born under the star sign of Ophicus - 'The Serpent bearer'......

......it's a little known constellation adjacent to Sagittarius............

........and is only used in Astrological systems that include it as the 13th Sign of the Zodiac.......

Shedding it's skin........... the snake was also the symbol of eternal life.............

......and so became closely linked to medicine and the healing arts...............

I suppose the most famous references are those in the Bible..........
.....where the Devil himself is supposed to have taken the form o the serpent........
........to tempt Eve in the garden of Eden..............

LOTS of symbolism there!.............
Can you imagine.......the innocent female.............
........being slowly seduced into doing something very naughty .....
......by a snake?

How could she resist?........... Har! Har!

At this point I feel I have to make the obvious link between snakes............
....and trousers!

Have fun!

Best wishes
Lord Noel
