Yet again Scientists have demonstrated their ability to push back the frontiers of the 'unknown' with important cutting edge experimentation............Yes......Food scientists at Leeds University think they have unravelled the secret behind the lure of the famous British 'chip' aroma.............
Experts broke down the smell into it's component parts using a process known as "gas chromatography mass spectrometry"...............
......and then expert analysts sniffed the smells that could be detected by the human nose and recorded the type and strength of each one.............
The final results showed that chip aroma is made up of a subtle mix of the following scents:
Butterscotch
Cocoa
Onion
Flowers
Cheese
and..............
........can you guess the missing ingredient?
