Lord Noel On Swiss Timing

Whatto! Europeans............

I was in town the other day when I noticed a Swiss gentleman stopping two passing local lads to ask them directions.......................
He starts off with "Entschuldigung, koennen Sie Deutsch sprechen?"
The two local lads look at each other blankly and stare back at him..............
The Swiss Gent then tries something else "Excusez-moi, parlez vous Français ?"
The two continue to stare.................
"Parlare Italiano?" he ventures...............
Still absolutely no response from the two local lads................
Finally he uses "Hablan ustedes Espanol?"
But the local lads remain in a baffled silence..................
The Swiss chap then walks off............... obviously extremely disappointed that he had not been understood.......................
One of the two local lads then turns to the second and says, "Y'know, maybe we should learn a foreign language!?"
"Why?" says the second youth................. "That guy knew FOUR languages, and it didn't do HIM any good!"
