Whatto! Peeps...
....they come in many colours and one can soon accumulate rather a lot of them.
Perhaps that's what happened to the Artist Devorah Sperber?
The contemporary use of such threads is of course cross stitch and tapestry....
Some may find that kind of past time therapeutic...but it requires many hours of sitting, bent over a frame of fabric, staring at small areas, whilst re threading tiny needles over and over again....
I sense this artist wanted something much more immediate....
...she may have first noticed how the spools can be assembled in neat rows to make colour blendings....
...and it's a small step from that to creating pictures using the spools of thread without having to stitch a thing....
Here are some examples of her work.....
...can you guess what it is yet?
Any Luck?
Well....I'll help you a bit, by uncovering the glass 'viewing ball' which is placed in front of each work to reduce and invert the image.....
....and suddenly.....
...all is revealed.....
Awfully clever isn't it?
An interesting challenge for our brains to work out how to process the information we're given.
Devorah's work is on show currently in Paris
Tallyho!
Best Wishes - Lord Noel
