Whatto! Pepys....
Our village is usually very popular with tourists....
...... but recently the whole place has looked decidedly deserted.
I've been told that we're living in tough times.....
.....everybody is in debt......
.....and many people are living on something called 'credit'.
I imagine that's like when I tell the chappies at the Orf Licence "I can't afford quite so much Champagne this week!".....
.....and the staff say "Would you credit it?"
What our local economy needs....
....is an 'injection of cash'......
....to 'fire it up' again!
The effect that an 'injection of wealth' can have on a community was felt on Wednesday this week when a rich tourist came into our village.
He entered the village's only hotel which is exquisite in that it has each room decorated in a different theme....
....it really is rather good!
You should check it out if you're ever in this neck of the woods...
.....anyway.....
....this Tourist pulls out a large bundle of £50 notes....
...peels one orf the top of the pile.....
....and lays it on the reception counter as a deposit while he then to inspect each of the rooms upstairs.....
.....in order to pick the one that he likes the best.
Well..........
The hotel proprietor then took the £50 note and ran to pay his debt to the butcher.
The Butcher took the £50 note, and ran to pay his debt to the pig farmer.
The pig farmer ran to pay his debt to the supplier of his feed and fuel.
The supplier of feed and fuel took the $50 note and ran to pay his debt to the village prostitute...
....who in these hard times, had given her "services" to him on credit.
The 'hooker' ran to the hotel, and paid off her debt with the $50 note to the hotel proprietor to pay for the rooms that she rented when she brought her clients there.
The hotel proprietor then laid the £50 note back on the counter....
....as the rich tourist returned to the Reception.....
....suspecting nothing!
He picked up his £50 note, saying that he did not like any of the rooms, and left.
No one has earned anything, and yet now the village is happy and debt free!
Tallyho!
Best Wishes - Lord Noel
