Lord Noel On Carol Singing Brought Up To Date

Whatto! Carol singers.....

I love it when we all get dressed up warmly in the evening and go carol singing around our village....
....one of my favourite songs is the famous "Jingle Bells"....
....there's nothing guaranteed to warm you up better on a winters evening than singing:

Dashing through the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way

But being the Leader of the 'Wandering Carollers' I was recently sent a letter........
....from the Health & Safety department of the local Council.......

Dear Lord Noel
As Leader of the group known as the 'Wandering Carollers' we feel we should draw something to your attention, before the Yuletide celebrations begin in earnest. We have received information that you will be including the words of 'Jingle Bells' in your repertoire.
In such circumstances a risk assessment must always be submitted before any open sleigh is considered safe for members of the public to travel on. There will also need to be proper provisions made for anyone wishing to ride on the sleigh who may be physically or mentally impaired in some way.
Once this risk assessment has been approved by the Safety Officer in charge of your area a relevant 'Certificate of Approval' must be obtained from your local Council office at a cost of £14 per calendar year. The risk assessment must also consider whether it is appropriate to use only one horse for such a venture, particularly if passengers are of larger proportions.
Please note, permission must be gained from landowners before entering their fields - otherwise such action may be regarded as civil trespass.
And finally.....to avoid offending those who have chosen not to  participate in celebrations, we would request that any laughter is 'moderate' only and not loud enough to be considered a noise nuisance to others.
We trust this information will enhance your enjoyment of this holiday period.

Tallyho!
What's your favourite carol?
Best Wishes - Lord Noel & Lady Jacqueline
